Dr. Christine Wood is a practicing pediatrician and certified lactation educator in Southern California. She has interests in the childhood obesity problem and the the role of environmental toxins on childhood health. She is the author of the book, How to Get Kids to Eat Great and Love It! She has been a frequent guest on TV and radio and has had articles and interviews published in Newsweek, Parents, Parenting, Redbook, Fit Pregnancy among others. She serves on the San Diego County Childhood Obesity Initiative and has contributed in her community lending expertise on childhood nutrition to school wellness committees, parent groups, churches and has been a recognized speaker at medical conferences around the country. She has co-authored the Power Up for Sports and Health Toolkit for youth athletic teams that address healthy nutrition and exercise.
She is co-investigator with the San Diego State University Research Foundation on childhood obesity prevention. The development of the Health and Obesity: Prevention and Education (HOPE) curriculum was published in the journal, Pediatrics and Dr. Wood created the advocacy module for the curriculum.
She is married with one teenage son. She loves to play tennis, run, work out, cook and spend time with friends and family.
